Currently, the Japanese population is slowly declining while the number of foreign residents in Japan is steadily rising. As importantly as studying English and other foreign languages, residents in Japan need to become more aware of the communication styles, values, beliefs, and customs of their own countries and those of their new close neighbors in order to smoothly coexist with one another in Japan’s globally-connected society.
